Unit Outing 2009
Wednesday, December 30, 2009 @ 5:02 AM
On 28 December we had our first unit outing in Cedar NPCC history. It was really fun and it bonded us a lot. Before we went to Ma’am Ying Xin’s house, most of us decided to meet at Compass Point and we ate our lunch together before making our way to Ma’am Ying Xin’s house.
When we reached, Melissa and Germine went to meet Sharon and Joycelyn to help blow up balloons and fill up the water balloons. The rest of us waited at the bus stop before deciding to wait at the main gate. After Ma’ams arrived, we helped to carry the inflated balloons to the function room. After everything was ready, we played the games organised by Phoenix Ma’ams first. We played games such as charades, treasure hunt and AEIOU. Each of us had a game we felt that were the most interesting. Most of the games involved teamwork between the teammates.
At 6pm, we continued with Aether’s games. However, not everyone managed to play the remaining games as they had to help barbeque the food. They were really upset that they couldn’t play the games. The first game we played was the balloon wheel. We had to form a circle and place our hands around each others’ neck. Then we had to place the balloon between our heads and try to balance it until the other side of the room. Melissa, Sharon, Joycelyn and Germine tried to demonstrate and it seemed very difficult. However, they soon got the hang of it and they told the rest of us how to play. Then it was the balloon war! We had to snatch balloons from others or guard it against the ‘snatchers’. It was really fun trying to snatch and protect the balloons from the other groups. Many of us tried snatching balloons from our ma’ams and had a lot of fun trying to do so. We felt that it was the best game throughout the unit outing. Anyone could tell that everyone enjoyed themselves judging by the noise made.
The last game was water balloon! We decided to try to persuade ma’ams to join in the game as we did not warn them earlier about having water games. We had to allow them to throw the water balloons at us but we are not allowed to throw at them. In the end, all of Aether got wet. But we still had a lot of fun playing it.
After all the games were played, we proceeded to the function room to rest. Soon our dinner was ready and we began eating. We did not eat much and there were a lot of leftovers.
There were no more programmes planned for us and we decided to entertain ourselves by playing with each other and the balloons. Germine and Meita appeared to be ‘drunk’ and they were only drinking syrup water. Melissa and Qianwei also entertained us by having a conversation in a high pitched voice. We had a fun time laughing at each other.
As there were a lot of time left, everyone went to play at the playground. We had lots of fun there playing with the swings, merry go round and the standing see-saw. Many of us fell off the merry go round and few just flew off the swing. We took turns pushing the merry go round. We spent our time there laughing and screaming. We think we scared the children there. In the end, all of us squeezed into the merry go round and sang some campfire cheers. We all think that it was the best time during the whole unit outing and it was the activity that bonded us the most.
After playing at the playground, we went back to help with the packing and clean up. We were asked to deal with the balloons that we had a hard time blowing up. Many of us were unwilling to bring the balloons home and we had to pop them. We feel that it was quite fun popping balloons too. Amirah, Joycelyn, Qianwei, Hengyee and some others helped to mop and sweep the floor. We also helped to finish up the sandwiches.
After everything was cleared, we went down to the barbeque pit to take photo as a squad and as a unit.
In a nutshell, we all feel that this unit outing was a success and we enjoyed ourselves a lot. We hope that there will be another unit outing next year.
